Reflecting on the month of June 2009...

As we look back, the month of June was a very good time for our family in Iowa. June is a symbol of true connection to our surroundings and embracing the connections we have made with friends.

We got to visit with Sara and Jason. I even got to spend, what I consider, some quality time with some of Sara's family. Love her mom and dad! That is always a good time and will never get old for me!

We became closer to our friends and neighbors, especially Simon and Kay and their kids. We even spent Father's Day with them and always look forward to spending time with them.

We closed out Little League season by attending the swim party. Little League was a blessing and helped us to get more involved (well, atleast me.. I did volunteer at the concessions) and made lots of friends, young and old.

We also attended Prairie Days, the annual town celebration. Met some new people there and I did some volunteering at the kid bounce houses. Surprisingly, I had a blast! Then we got to watch the good ol' parade. There was candy flying and even old tractors!

Well, look for pictures spotlighting these events on our Shutterfly site! Thank you for checking out our site.

Happy Independence Day w/ A Sad Farewell.....

Well, what a whirlwind of a holiday weekend. Today was a much needed day of rest.

We spent the actual holiday in Oskaloosa with Carly, the kids and her family. It was very nice to be around, what I consider, family. I have really missed Carly and Toby and Savanna have really missed Cayden and Camille!

We ate some good home cookin', visited and met some of her Iowan side of the family, as well as, the Californian side.. Her sister Angie and her family were there. They are all a very nice bunch of people. Arlon and Darrin (Angie's husband) enjoyed listening and watching some of the race while us girls chatted and took pics of the kids. We also all got to do lots of sparklers with the kids.

I have learned that Helena and Toby could have a tendency toward being pyromaniacs.... They really enjoyed the fire! Savanna enjoyed them, but was a little nervous by them and June Bug was just mesmerized and was relaxed and stared the whole time.

All in all, it was a fun time, but we are glad to be back home and in beds at a decent time. (Especially Jr... he loves his bed!)

Today was spent just hanging out around the house and doing chores. Although I did manage to sneak away and sit in the park and read my book ALONE, then I went to get groceries...

Well, that's all for now. Hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day and all of your loved ones are home safe.

2nd Annual Fisher/Hingclif 4th of July Celebration

Last night we attended a Fourth of July party put on by Chris and Randy, which are some of Arlon's co-workers. It was a very nice time.

The food was delicious. We ate Pulled Pork sandwiches, tater salad and a decadent Chocolate Khalua cake.

The house and property was amazing and shows of a lot of hard work on their part. They live a little bit out in the country and have lots of greenery, raspberries, mulberries and blackberries growing throughout. It was a 'cottage-like' setting. The only downfall was that it rained most of the time, but when we had a break it was beautiful.

The kids spent most of their time exploring and eating berries, swinging on the tire swing and playing polish horse shoes.

Today we will be driving to Oskaloosa to visit with Carly and the kids for one last time before they leave to go back home to AZ.

We wish you all a very Happy 4th of July.

The first Fourth of July celebration in the long weekend ahead...

Well, here we are almost a year into our journey in Iowa. The feelings today are mostly of being homesick and missing family. It was a year ago today, that some "issues" were partially settled, but feelings remain bitter. It was also a time of great family togetherness. We spent a lot of quality time with family and friends the week of our departure and we want you all to know that we treasure those moments and miss you all deeply.

So, as we try to look forward to all the positive that Iowa has to offer our family, we revel in the fresh start of this holiday with a bitter sweet sense of reckoning....

We attended the Annual Telfor BBQ last night. That is always a wonderful time to be around them. They truly are amazing people from the grown-ups all the way down to the youngest...

Helena spent most of the night cuddling one of the new puppies. The puppy is a light tan and white, similar to Gizmo. Helena has dubbed her "Molly." Helena is working on softening Arlon and I up to the idea to have a puppy... We'll let you know how that turns out. She also hung out with her friends and did the "pre-teen" thing. She has definately found some really great girls to take the teenage journey with....

Savanna ran around acting wild and crazy. This seems to be her normal summer mannerism. She too, has found a great group of girls and they act just like little Savanna... She enjoyed the trampoline for most of the night.

I don't think I saw Toby more than once the whole time we were there. He played the Game cube, jumped on the tramp, ate smores and got as dirty as he could!

Junior was a bit fussy, but enjoyed being outside. Yesterday was his debut of the hand and knee crawl. He finally mastered getting up and doing the 'real' crawl. So, now he is into everything... He seems to really enjoy the dog water and food, ofcourse!

I made jello shots for everyone and they all seemed to enjoy it. Not sure how much they are all enjoying it today though... LOL.

Well, off to the second party of the weekend. This one is with Arlon's work friends. We'll let you know how that goes and I will post pictures soon.

Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July and stay safe.

Love, The Welch's
